In Anne Lamott’s Shitty First Drafts she writes about the fact that no writer’s first draft is the perfect draft. Every writer ends up having to creating three or more drafts to make sure the final one is perfect. Reading this excerpt from her book makes me feel less stressed out about writing my first draft for project one. I always freak out because I want the first draft to be good enough, so I don’t have to write anymore; however, I know in order for my project to be the best that it can, I’m going to have to write more than one drafts so I can work out everything that doesn’t need to be there.
My mother, being an English teacher, knows exactly what it’s like to read shitty first drafts all the time. She has read all of mine through out the years of going through school. I will never be able to get away with just writing one draft and because of her that still won’t happen.
Anne Lamott’s Shitty First Drafts describes exactly how I feel after writing my own first drafts. Freaking out until I eventually look through it to clean it up. Overall, this was a great read!
